Mateo joined Sepi Solar at the beginning of 2023. He has been in the renewable energy industry since 1997. As a Technologist, he specializes in renewable energy technology assessment.

At Invinity Energy Systems(formerly Avalon Battery), he managed all pilot and commercial installations, handled customer relations, provided feedback to engineering team to improve product, and supported Business Development and Marketing teams.

As the second employee at Sungevity, he helped grow the company to 350 employees. Over six years he had many job responsibilities including solar technology equipment decisions, vendor relationships, PV system design, business development, staff solar technical support, and was the C-46 registered contractor.

He was an Actions Campaigner at Greenpeace working with the Clean Energy Now campaign. That campaign helped to create the California Solar Initiative. This work included blockading the installation of offshore oil wells off the north slope of Alaska to working with the community of Bo Nok in Thailand to stop a coal plant.

Mateo spends most of his free time being entertained by a young daughter; but if given some solo time prefers to get on his motorcycle and ride for as long as he can.

He has a degree in Industrial Technology with a focus in Appropriate Technology from Appalachian State University.
